From dashboards to dialogue: exploring operational data

A conversational interface can help staff ask follow-up questions about business data. It works best when the answers can be checked against the underlying records.

Use conversation for follow-up questions

A dashboard presents the questions it was designed to answer. A staff member investigating a change may need to explore a different period, filter a group of records or compare information across systems.

An assistant can provide a conversational way to ask those questions. It still needs reliable queries and sufficient context to explain the result.

Keep the evidence visible

Responses should identify the source and the time period behind the answer. Users need to know when information is missing or when an explanation is an inference that requires investigation.

A plausible explanation of a change does not establish its cause. The interface should make it possible to inspect the relevant records and verify the interpretation.

Connect approved data sources

A custom MCP server can expose defined queries to business systems. A document retrieval pipeline can provide supporting procedures and reference material.

Permissions, logging and any action approvals belong in the integration design. Start with one useful question and evaluate the workflow with the people who need it.

Build around the decision staff need to make

The first pilot should focus on a real task, such as investigating an exception or preparing a status summary. Agree how staff will check the answer and what a useful result looks like.

We build AI applications and integrations around these specific workflows.
